A gathering of the Access to Knowledge (A2K) Global Academy will be convened by the Information Society Project (Yale) on January 18-19, 2011 in Cape Town, South Africa.  The A2K Global Academy is a network of academic centers dedicated to research, education, and policy analysis promoting access to knowledge.

Taking part in the two-day workshop will be representatives from member institutions in Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Lebanon, South Africa, Syria, Tunisia, and the U.S.

Workshop topics will include copyright exceptions and limitations in education; South African-specific issues in A2K;  accessing public information; open source projects in the Arab world; ICTs and access in the developing world; and A2K, privacy and freedom of expression.

The Center for Technology and Society of FGV will be attending the meeting and will also present the International IP for the Public Interest platform.
