These views emphasized the support for more transparency around training data for regulated AI systems, and that the existing copyright flexibilities for use of copyrighted materials such as for text and data mining exceptions for scientific research purposes provide a suitable framework for AI training. They also advocated for a practical and proportionate approach to meeting the transparency obligation to support the smaller players, in order not to stifle AI innovation.
