The markup of the Stop Online Piracy Act (H.R. 3261) has begun, and over 55 amendments have been proposed to the bill. Over the next two days, the House Judiciary Committee will debate each of them.
There is an Amendments Roster that lists 55 amendments, which Mike Masnick posted to Tech Dirt, but there may be additional amendments not on the roster. There are a lot of interesting ones listed, including:
- Amendment #51, introduced by Rep. Polis relates Sec. 205 on international IP enforcement. The amendment “Changes the section that creates the State Department IP attachés to ensure they also consider fair use, consumers and licensees as part of their duties.”
- Amendment #18, introduced by Sensenbrenner, “Strikes private right of action in 103.”
